The 05s do not have torsion bars, coil over if I am not mistaken.
I believe there is a leveling kit available, but no lift kit out yet.

Can't help with the other questions.

They went with a "lower" Dakota (4x2 & 4x4's have the same ride height) so that it has a more car like/smooth ride......which it does compared to previous generations of the Dakota.

Yeah you can put bigger tires/wheels on your truck.....the speedometer will read incorrectly though (it'll be off). You'd have to go to the dealer to get it programmed in (the new tire size) or wait for a handheld "tuner" to come out to change it.

TRX package will only give you a VERY VERY small increase in height (it's supposedly a 1/2 or 1 inch lift).....the cost would be very ridiculous I would think since you'd have to buy it from Mopar.

Just wait for a full lift kit, or buy the front leveling kit which raises the front up 2" for a level, higher look. It's like $80 or $100 for that front leveling kit....well worth it for the 4x4 guys. (I have a 4x2)

By the way...it's a simple install for that 2" front leveling kit too

It was $79 for that kit.....and I guess it's been discontinued after I did a search....if you can find one here's before & after pics (courtesy of Dakotahub)

Says it's been discontinued here: http://performancelifts.com/cgi-bin/cart/PER61062.html
