Largest tires with no rubing?
What are the largest tires you can throw on without rubbing when hitting bumps or turning hard? Stock ride height and all. I think right now I have 245/75-16's from the factory, but I would love to go 31". Also, are there any programmers out yet that can fix the speedometer problems that come with bigger/smaller tires?
Your dealer can do it for you, but it'll be about $80
So if you swap the tires one time....it'd be cheaper than buying a ($250-300) programmer, but then you don't get the benefits of the programmer

Well I know that they CAN & they have the ability.....but I don't know if they will do it for everyone.
I used to work at my local dealer so they're cool with me.
I'm assuming they would since they would make money & there's like no labor involved...it's pushing a couple buttons..lol

My Grabber AT2's are 265/70/16..which is 30.9x10.5.16, so very close to a 31x10.5x16 and they fit fine...I would think you can go taller.

I posted this thread loooong ago. Since then I have mounted 265/75 r16 on a stock vehicle, no rub, looks great. Its the largest you can go without a trim, even if you do a 2" leveling kit.
My truck came with 265/70R16 Goodyear wranglers. They are 30.6 inches tall. I would like to upgrade to 265/75R16 which is anywhere from 31.7 to 32" tall depending on manufacturer or 285/75R16 which are 32.9 to 33.1 inches depending on manufacturer. The 265/75R16 should fit with stock ride height and will add about 3/4 of an inch in ground clearance. The 285/75R16 probably will require some suspension lift to clear and they will give you about1.25 inches of ground clearance. The other factor is wheel backspacing. A shallow backspace will push the tire away from the frame and steering parts and may eliminate rubbing with larger tires. I'm no expert though but I have done some reading on this so its best to check with a good tire shop.
Cool! I will be putting the 265-75-R16s on then. So the next question is, do they stick out the side of the wheel wells...ie would flares be a good idea? I really don't want to have to put some on. However if they protect the truck then may have to
thanks for the info. figured you had gotten your tires by this point!
