Default Removing rear headrests on 2006 Dakota quad cab.

Hi Guys,
I am new to this forum.
I just got a black 2006 Dodge Dakota SLT 4x4 quad cab & have a question I need answered.
How do I remove the rear headrests from the seatbacks? These are the new ones that look like a little ladder. I tried pulling them out but they are locked in place. There does not appear to be a button on the base to release them.

Thanks in advance.

Joe

Joe,
I'll try to do this from memory [I'm getting old] ... About 4 months ago I did just what you wanted to do. Look on either the inboard or outboard slide support (for lack of a better term) where the metal headrest post slides into the seat One side will have a very small hole in it either curb side or street side near the fabric of the seat. If you insert a small nail or something like that which will go in the hole and push aside the latching mechanism, you can then raise the headrest up and out of the seatback.

I have a 2006 QC 4x4 and the back seat is devoted to my Golden Retriever who does not need the headrests, hence their removal.
Hope this helps
Jim

Thanks Jim, I'll have to give that a try.

Perhaps when they don't use the back seats for people.. Perhaps to install a gun rack and to transport their bird dog.

took mine off to cut the foam off. Then painted the metal poles black and now have a 4 foot sword hanging back there.
