Anyone having trouble with the scales in the seats? My light for airbags is always turning on as well as the Fault airbag light in the dash cluster. I have had the truck back to the dealer 3 times now and all they can do is recalibrate the scales. What up here. I am getting tired of the weekly visits to the dealer!!

 

i was having the faulty light in cluster coming on and staying on problem. I took it to the dealer one afternoon and they said they were too busy. So of course i could never get it to duplicate, but that was last summer so I'm waiting to see if it happens again this summer or something. Its one of those crappy thigns they can't seem to fix or duplicate when you go to the dealer.

 

Thanks, I wish I had only seen this once, However, The light comes on Daily and I end up driving around without Airbags....I wonder if I were to get in an accident and the airbags did not deploy, could I sue for a new truck? Oh ya and hopefully I am still alive to do that!

 

No that is not the case unless dodge uses a primitive SRS computer. I had a Z3 the air bag light was on and hit in the side and the door airbag still blew. I was told the computer recgonizes there is a problem but still will deploy the bags. I was also told by the dealer (was a light hit in the door) the air bag light was on due to a problem with the very airbag that blew (hit was hard enough to set the bag off). The airbag module, or computer (at least in BMW) stores error codes like the ECM. The dealer should be able to determin the problem even if the light is off. Now comparing Dodge to BMW which probably should't be mentioned in the same line but I'd imagine dodge's system should be as good. In any case get it fixed, a saftey feature they should take seriously. That being said I would of been better off the airbag in the Z not deploy, hit wasn't bad enought to "put me at risk" and all the air bag did is burn (friction) and sprain my elbow. Also is the world of "no fault" even tho the person that hit me got ticket for failure to yeild I couldn't sue. Fine with me all I wanted was my car fixed as I hate people that sue when the get a few scrapes. 9 grand later Z looked fine. During my move from DC to TX my cat rode on the passenger and she was just enough wieght to turn the light on and off, was quite annoying driving at night, wish in the QC the gave you the option to shut it off. I understand they think you should be smart enough to put the kid in the back, but it save alot of money if you could shut pass bag off if I was envolved in an accident. I rarely have a passenger. Humm maybe it doe know there isnt anyone in the seat and wont deploy.....sorry for the rambeling....

 

If the light in the cluster keeps coming on you may have a faulty solder joint in the cluster harness. Had my cluster replaced a month or so ago for that issue. After 3-4 starts the brain will auto reset for the code but will then come back on. Dodge said the airbags will still deploy. The light in the dash above the radio should only come on when something less than I think 40 lbs is on it. Below that weight it thinks there is a kid in a car seat there and the bag will not deploy.
