2005/2006 poor braking!
There are many messages posted, with even more comments, about the 2005/2006 braking problems.
Have any of the parties posting messages or parties responding to these messages taken the time to file an incident report with the NHTSA? As you all know complaining to Dodge directly or thru the dealers does not get many results. WHY NOT TAKE A FEW MINUTES AND LOG ON TO THE NHTSA WEB SITE (www.-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/consumer.cfm) AND PROVIDE DATA TO "OUR" CIVIL SERVANTS. Do not go off the deep end, just explain that the OEM brakes on the 2005/2006 are inadequate and give details of problems.. Also, advise NHTSA that Dodge took a step backwards upon replacing the 4 wheel disc combination of the 2004 and earlier with the latest disc/drum combination now installed. If enough people complain to the NHTSA maybe something will get done, you never know.
If any of you out there have complied with TSB 05-004-5 REV.A and have continued to have problems you should bring this up and give details. Have any of you noticed that the brake pedal being softer and a longer pedal travel than before the TSB was installed?
A conversion kit from rear drums to rear discs would be great. I would suggest that you email Stainless Steel Brakes at www.tech@ssb.com, or sales@mpbrakes.com, or www.martelbrothers.com ( go to their "contact us" link) and describe the short comings of the of the OEM brakes. I would send them an email every week.

the 4-wheel disc was the standard on only the 2003 and 2004 Dakota's. All previous to 2003 had the disc drum combo and braking was a concern on those 2002 and older models as well.
Hrmm let's see here, than WHAT causes the problem? Let's think, pre 2003 drums = shaking.... 2003 + 04 discs = no shaking, 2005 + 06 drums = shaking. What could be the cause of this shaking?!?!?!?
Fix something please DCX.

i dont know if anyone remembers some of my past post about my truck shaking after i put some 20 rims and tires on. Well after 3 different shops discount tire got me right. Tire man is the worst place to take you truck to if you want to get rims and tires. DT told me that they have never seen tire more off blance then mine. Also tire man forgot to take off these clips that go on your studs from the factory so it was causing my tires to be offset. NOW NO MORE SHAKING!!!
