Exterior Temperature Display showing wrong value (-40)
Good Afternoon,
I just had my '06 Dakota updated with the F08 CCN Control Module Recall, as well as an oil change.
Now, my exterior temperature overhead display is showing an outside temperature of -40C / -40F.
I went back to the shop and they didn't find any error codes or anything, are will look at it again later this week (they were about to close anyway).
They've been very helpful, but are perplexed by this problems.
Has this been seen before? I know it is a small problem, but it could be evidence of another underlying issue as well.
Thanks for the time.
Jim
2006 Dodge Dakota SLT Quad 4x4. Only 3764 miles on it.
It has been sitting idle for two weeks in 60 to 100 degree weather.

disconnect your battery and turn ignition key to on position and hold for 20 seconds. this will clear everything. reconnect cable and start vehicle. .the sensor is located under hood in frt of radiator just above bumper check to see if the bang into it or not. also check to see if the canadian button is on instead of the american button
It means the temp sensor is in open circuit (disconnected) or defective. See DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING
AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR on page 8M-28 of the Dakota factory service manual.

Thanks everyone.
I'm going to assume that the open connection was one of the first things addressed by the dealer's garage, especially when it was one of the first things I mentioned to them (I know, just because you say it doesn't make it true)
I went out, looked at the sensor, wiggled it some (highly technical step, eh?), and then put the key to the on position, with the battery engaged. I read the manual for a bit, didn't see anything. Shut down for the night, and didn't do anything until this morning to start up. (12 hours between events). Well, it worked today. Go figure. Is this a Twilight Zone problem, or evidence of something else...we'll have to see.
In any regards, I received email from one person about the recall. Dodge has this link (http://www-5.dodge.com/webselfservic...m%28%27R%27%29) to determine if it is needed or has already been done. You just need your VIN (last 8 digits) to get into it.
I also found what I think is a reference at
http://www.automallusa.net/2006/dodg...a/recalls.html The first one sounds familiar (the paper was left at the dealer).
The problem is that an ESD event will cause the wipers to start going, causing a hazard to navigation.
Thanks again and Good Luck
Jim
