I was thinking the cummins at first, but dude you gotta do soe much mod to make the dern thing fit in the compartment it wouldn't be worth it, and at $13,000 for a dual turbo Cummins with 1200lb-ft of torque i think i might rip my frame in half with that! haha!

I've given up on getting a different engine for the truck, and just said my next truck will be a diesel, though it's higher, you get better mileage with it. Even if Dodge put an I4 cummins in it it'd still have plenty of power and get AWESOME mileage.

I would just like to see and SRT-8 Dakota with a 6.1 Hemi, and Dakota with a diesel in the US. Dodge might do the diesel but I seriously don't think they will make an SRT Dakota with a Hemi even though I am pretty sure they would sell the crap out of them. I know I would be doing everything in my power to trade for one.

take the 4.7 and stroke the snot out of it. forget the bull engine swap, waste of time and money, plus you will need all the computer hardware and wiring.

ITS CUMMINS, NOT CUMMINGS!!

Now with that out of the way, Jimbo: I would look into a Cummins 4BT swap, much smaller and the swap is very common in jeeps and toyotas, and will put out quite a bit of torque and get 30 mpg. You can find them cheap and easily as well, just look for an old frito lay truck or something of the sort, and well, there ya go.

I was under the impression the 4BT was quite a heavy engine. Wonder how our crap suspensions up front would handle that...

I dont have any personal experiance with them, but you would think if jeeps use them alright, it should be fine...
