Default a small 'boost' when slowing down.

alright.. this has happened to me about 5 times since i've had my truck..( 05 v6). 24k miles

when i apply the brake to slow down, the rpm jumps(from around 1000 back up to 2500/3000 rpm's) and i get this lil 'boost' or acceleration.

does anyone know what might be the problem? i really hope its not a big deal.

Are you sure you're not hitting both pedals at the same time w/ your foot. If you are used to a larger floor space, and move to a smaller vehicle, sometimes you don't shift your foot far enough to the left to allow for closer pedals, work boots, or even just a big foot (no offense).

SinceOne,

A 1500 or 2500 jump in RPM is enormous and no a little boost. Are you sure you don't mean 150-250 rpm. That would be something associated with an automatic transmission downshifting to a lower gear?

I just cant imagine the engine racing like tht. It would freak me out.
