Default High Wattage Bulb's

There are multiple websites that offer a higher wattage fog lamp, more than the original 42W, they offer 45W bulbs & 55W bulbs, my question is would it be a good thing if i got a high watt harness to handle the bigger wattage bulb's, they say that's what they are for but you never know, hate to melt my stock harness's and then deal with that whole problem also, i'm looking around now because my silver star foglamp's (H10-9145) burnt out already, so i had to put my good ole stock's in.

Well, you see not allways does higher wattage equal brighter. HIDs for example are lower in wattage but MUCH brighter. 35w HID will replace a 65w hallogen/Xenon. Also different gases will create brighter lights. Xenon is somewhat brighter than halogen lighting. And if you get lights with a tad higher wattage they won't melt your wiring harness. And since they all run at 12v DC, it won't hurt, just puts a bit more load on the alternator when running. Just for an example, I bought 55w H3 off road lights for my truck, and when one went out after I accidentally crossed the + and - when mounting it, I replaced it with a 100w H3 bulb. Nothing has happened so far like my truck hasn't exploded and the line hasn't melted after a few months of having it in there. And I do use my off road lights, not like I have them on there "yeah i put in a 100w bulb, haven't teste dit yet though" lol. My fog lamps are 45w bulbs. Basically, it depends on how much your alternator/battery can handle, and as long as they run 12v DC.

So it's not like light bulbs for your house i mean if you stick in a 20 watter and then change it to a 100 watter, there's a big difference, and what about the high wattage harnesse's so if what you say is true then why do they sell those if the wattage dont make a difference
