Hello. I'm new here. I just bought a 2006 dakota- my first new car! It's the base model- the only upgrades are an automatic tranny and the rear seat for the club cab. I am going to install power locks, and I actually prefer manual windows. (The power windows on my last truck were always jamming up.) My only real problem with the ST is that gray front bumper- I think it's ugly, and it doesn't easily allow for fog lights. Has anyone bought a replacement bumper cover from a dealership? I would like a body color/bright front bumper, which is standard on the Laramie. Can I order it pre-painted? Thanks.

 

i looked into that also. most people just get theres painted. you can order one from the dealer but they are pricey.

 

Ya, honestly, I would take it to a body shop, get the stock one cut out for the fogs, and have whoever does it, bondo and smooth the cutouts, and then paint it to factory color.

But.... that's just me.

 

The gray front bumper is textured, it will not look good painted at all. Your best bet is to order the paintable bumper, but they are like $300 and only came primered when I looked a few months ago. You mite want to try a junk yard and see if you can come up on one.

 

Ok, scratch my idea then. Ha.

That or.... just steal someones fron t bumper if you find one you like.
