Default Remote Starter

I have just purchased a 2006 Dakota that has the "transponder chipped" keys. I have been told that due to the security thing with the keys a remote starter can not be installed on the truck, does anyone know more about this?

Not true. It just means a seperate fob for the remote start. If you look around, you might find an installer who can use your transponder key. My salesman said he only knew of one guy locally who could do that. It would be set up so the remote would work by pressing the lock and un-lock buttons on the key at the same time. Look around.

you just need a bypass mod. for it. I have put many Starters on dakota with the transponder keys. Just make sure that they dont try and tell you that you will need to put a key in a bypass cause thats a buch of bs!
