Default TRX4 Owners - What do you think?

Hi y'all. As a Mo-fan I love the Power Wagon, but cannot justify the gas mileage hit for the 4x4 or towing ability right now. I want to love the new Dak, but have some issues. The TRX4 with the part timeT-case would make a good base for long term truck. It should offer the ability for light/medium off-roading in stock form(we Canadians get ~32" BFG All-T KOs) and good medium ability with a 2-3" lift and 33" Pro-Comps.

Owners, how does yours 'wheel? With the 4.7 HO(the only option to turn forged 18"s and 33 inchers) and 3.90 gears, what is your mileage in normal mixed driving( not *****-footin', but not baggin' either)?

I have a few months to decide on the truck, but to give up real 1/2 ton capabilities for a 2-3 mpg improvement for daily driving doesn't really make sense to me. The new GMC Sierras Z-71 will be out soon with the 5.3/6.0 w/ MDS, or the Ram 1500 TRX4 5.7 MDS, and if these get an honest 15-16, or better according to GM, would you have wished you opted for the 1/2 ton?

Thanks for the input, I'll probably be here on the forum for a time to come as almost all new vehicles, and old muscle, that has a chance of taking my money is a MOPAR.

First I would have to say the Dakota and FULL sized Chevy are not in the same class so pointless to compair but sence you asked the Dakota 4.7 V8 towing ability is only 500 lbs. less than the FULL sized stanard Chevy truck and payload is almost the same....I guess the best dfferance is the fact my Dakota gets over 20 MPG and can still smoke a Chevy truck.
