Ever heard of this one? (new defect)
So my trucks been great. I got 11k miles on it. Its an 06 Dodge Dakota 4x2 V6 6-spd manual. Its been perfect for the 11k miles. Then 1 morning it doesnt start. Like, its got full power, but it never turns the starter. For a second I thought maybe that the clutch safety cut-off switch was stuck or broken. Finally it randomly turns over no problem. I took it to the dealer, they look at it. They conclude the truck needs a new engine computer thing, FMS or somthing. Apparently alot of 2006 v6 6-spds have this problem where the computer signal from turning the key never gets to the ignition. Go figure. Its actually working perfectly now. But a free computer replacement is being done on saturday. Look out for this guys.
Correction: Its the PCM that they are replacing, not the "FMS" lol. PCM, or Powertrain Control Module. Apparently if you have a V6 6-spd, you could also have this problem. May be right away, maybe years down the road. My problem SEEMS to have disapeared, but I am still getting the new PCM installed soon.
no no monkey, you were right the first time. my FMS has been acting up and ASAP i had it looked at by the IRS but thats on the DL so BYOB ok happy trailing TTYL.
