Default K&N intake question

I am thinking of getting the FIPK K&N intake system for my 05 dak. My only concern is the issue of sucking up water into the engine. The design looks like it places the filter down towards the wheel well. I live in Alaska and during the spring time when the snow starts to melt, it just puddles up in the road, so I am constantly driving through water for about 2 months. Any info would be great. Thanks

I just went thru a huge rain storm with flooding, I drove (although not fast) thru some really deep water, I was courious I opened the hood when I got home and the filter was totally dry. This is what I have.

the intakes are designed so water should not get in, unless you submerge the rig. if any problems occur just duct tape over the opening untill the water is gone. the intake will still be able to breathe the air it needs.

If you go with Airaid, you'll use the bottom of the stock box. You won't have to worry about it that way, and it's less expensive than K&N.

K&N has been a reliable intake ever since but on the practical aspect, you can also opt for the Airaid intakes. It also a dyno-proven capabilities already.
