Default Fuel Pump on backorder?

I just turned over 2600 miles on my 06 QC AWD when the check engine light came back on again. Small Evap leak. This being the third time it was in the shop for the same DTC, I insisted they drop the tank and have a look (Yeah I had to throw a fit and scream LEMON! LEMON!). There is a hairline fracture in the fuel pump housing, and the best answer I can get (after pulling some teeth) is a few weeks for a new part.

This is my first Dodge. Is this common? Is it common for Dodge to be nationally backordered on a part so mundane as a fuel pump?

This sucks.

most likely the 05-06 may have a new design and all produced are slated for new car production. I'm sure they are not expecting many fuel pump failures as I think (even for dodge) this is a rare occurance in such a low miliage. There are probably few 05 hitting their service life. I'm sure dodge doesnt make the fuel pump and they are only ordering to cover production vehicles at this point. I had a door panel Air bag come out on my BMW when I ran over a large rock that hit the under carrage, It took BMW 6 weeks to get me a new door panel. I drove around with one from a junk yard car until mine came in (and that was on a $50K+ car!). Enjoy the loaner car :}

I had to bug them every day and threaten to begin lemon filings. Not sure if this made a difference but 3 weeks in to the reported 5 week backorder, I had a new pump installed. 1 week and 400 miles and it seems to be fine now.

Now I need to find out more about the "sailing" front end issue.

Thanks for the responses.
