Default 2005 Dakota What axles do i have?

I have a 2005 dakota with the 3.55 rear end that is open differential and could someone tell me what axles and dif and all that I have as I'm trying to find at least a locking diff for the rear. Pretty sure noone makes a locker for the front but that would be awsome. I would like at least one locker. What about upgrading to a dana 60 rear end to get a locker? Thanks for any input.

Kyle

There should be a sticker inside your glovebox that says what type of axle you have. If its an oval shape, its the chrysler 8 1\4, if its hexagonal, its the 9 1\4. I don't know a lot about 4x4, but i think whatever you do to the back, you need to do to the front as well. At least don't use 4 wheel drive until you upgrade the front as well I think. Ask your local 4x4 shop about that though.

Yep, you should have a rectanguler pice of paper in your glove box. It tells you the gear ratio and axil size.

I.e. mine is 3.55 gear ratio with a 9.25 axle.

Sticker in the glove box or just count the bolts on the rear diff. cover

10 bolts is 8.25"

12 bolts is 9.25"
