RE: Jet Stage 1 vs. Stage 2
stage 1 is for basically stock motors, stage 2 is for aftermarket equipment, intake, exhaust and a 180 thermostat. stage 1 needs 89 to operate correctly and stage 2 needs 93/94 octane to feell the potential, stage 1 about 10/12 more hrspwer and stage 2 20/25 depending on the application.with the stage 2 i had 190 rearwheel power, now that i have the cam kit and flash up to 218 rear wheel power.. jet is the only people that make a chip for the 05 and up daks. so super/hyper are missing out on some must needed info. around town i was getting 18/19 and highway 20/22 but thats a little lower now because of the kit. lost about 2 miles on each for an average

RE: Jet Stage 1 vs. Stage 2
There's a couple of other companies that have the chip out for our Daks. Go to SoCalDakota.com. They'll actually program one for you. Ebay has a lot of people claiming that they've made a chip for our trucks too.
I guess SuperChips and Hypertech aren't going to make any because of the lack of demand on our part. If I could actually afford one, I'd buy one, if they made it. Too bad Gail Banks isn't making any for the gas side of the trucks.

Yeah I was going to wait for Superchips or Hypertech, but since they aren't going to make one anytime soon, I am looking at Jet Stage 2. I have a K&N fipk intake kit, and thinking of going to true dual exhausts soon. If your truck is all stock and not planning on upgrading soon, go with S. 1.

RE: Jet Stage 1 vs. Stage 2
I have the HO so I already run premium fuel and I've also have a cold air intake. I haven't gone to duals yet but will shortly. The 180 stat is no problem so I might give the Stage 2 a try. I've seen multiple sites that say they have a Hypertech programmer for the "VinJ" style Dakotas (3rd gen) but I've never been able to track one down. I did order one from AutoAnything.com but it never arrived (even though they said they had it in stock!) so I finally cancelled the order. I also left a e-mail at Hypertech customer assiatnce as to whether they really has a programmer for my truck but I never received a reply. Guess I'm stuck with Jet for the time being.
