after spending 3 years in fairbanks alaska(tons of snow and ice for months onend) I learned the best thing is to slow down and leave a little early because it will take you longer to get places, and like said before all the brain surgens you see fly by will end up in a ditch sooner or later!!!!

Driving on ice/snow isn't the problem.....it's usually STOPPING when you realize that you're screwed and you can't stop

But yeah, just throw some weight in the bed of your truck for some extra traction.

I just had a piece of 2"x10" cut at Home Depot the exact width of the bed and have it resting against the back of the wheel wells and some 40lb. salt bags behind it.

Why the piece of wood?? The piece of wood keeps the weight from sliding forward though and over the rear of the axle.

And the salt bags....it's water softener salt and it comes in thick plastic bags (that won't rip easily), it's fairly cheap, and comes in heavy amounts (40lbs.). I have 5 of those in my truck to help with traction though I haven't driven my truck this winter yet....giving the Redline back on Monday and then it's Dakota time after that

I'll snap a pic of what I'm talking about today

I know, I'm usually the one grumbling about the 'idiots' flying by me in bad conditions. I 'usually' don't have any issues, this just caught me by surprise. Snow is not a problem. Last winter I purposly took the back roads to get away from the traffic. I passed the snow plow in the ditch, and my Dakota never slipped once. I almost went back to offer to pull him out, but I though that might be a bit too cocky.

I was going slower, but obviously not slow enough. I hate becoming the idiot.

I'm heading out for the sandbags this weekend. I don't have a water softener, but I can use the sand in my garden this spring once the ice is gone.

Yeah I don't need the (water softener) salt either, but the bags are heavy duty and not prone to rip

I had sand bags last year anda coupleripped and left sand all in the bedliner.....not fun to clean out. But if it works for you.....go for it

Definitely put a piece of wood (like I did) or something to keep the bags from sliding around/forward though.....the piece of wood is resting on the back of the wheel well (it's angled) and the bags are pushed up against it. Just snapped this pic to show you what I was talking about:

I usually tie (large straps using the cinch hooks in the bed so they stay in place)2 70lb bags to teh front of the bed. Behind the wheel well, the front wanders and pushes while turning. But thats my truck.

Bill, sometimes it happens no matter how slow you are going.

I knew someone would've probably noticed it, but YES you are correct.

That's my brother's car (Charger R/T Daytona) and he's got a 2002 Camaro SS parked to the left of my truck as well--he's also got a GSX-R too (yellow/black ironically).
Then my mom has a 2005 Durango and my dad has a 2006 Durango.

The (Ion) Redline was behind the Charger when I took the picture (can't see it obviously), but that's going back to the EX on Monday which sucks![:'(]
