2006 Dakota Wheels and leveling info
Hey Guys, this is my first post. I am rebuilding a 2006 quad cab Dakota 4x4. It is silver and was hit hard in the front drivers side. It is a salvage vehicle (trying to save some money over buying a new one so I can spend on my Cuda project). I am not 100% sure I will keep it long once it is done as I would really like a 1500 ram but I got this truck cheap and I should be able to make some money on it, thats the plan anyway. However, the style of the truck is growing on me and I think mostly what I dislike is the ride height, they sure are low for being 4x4's! Anyway, I have a few questions and a request. 1) Will thenew Ram 20 inch wheels fit with no modifications? What about the tires that come on the ram 20's, will they fit or do they need to be changed to fit the dakotas?I see a lot of sets on ebay with tires, basically factory takeoffs I guess and thought that might be a good way to go. 2) Also, whattypes of suspension liftshave been tried on the new trucks? I want 2 to 3 inches max. Would a leveling kit be good enough and if so who makes a good one that will stand up to occasional off road duty? If I put a short lift in would the stock ram 20 inch tires work??? My request is to see picstures of any and all 3rd gen dakotas for a little inspiration. I searched a little and didn't find a tonne, maybe I looked in the wrong spot??? I would really like to see lifted or leveled trucks with a little info about the type of lift, etc or trucks with differnt wheels. Silver QC's would be nice too. Thanks in advance, I'm sure I'll be on here a bit in the next little while asking for help. Tyler

Well, there are people who say that they have the 20 inch ram wheels... I havent seen any pics though... doesnt matter anywho, if you look at the lug pattern and offset you should be ok... I will dig into it though, and see what I can find out.
***EDIT*** The offset is the same, teh bolt pattern is teh same, and tirerack.com shows 20X9's fitting. so you should be ok.

Here are mine, 06 Ram 1500 wheels. Have to change tire size. 275 45 20s ride well. I choose these over aftermarket so I didnt have to mess with offset or special spacing plates. Can still use factory lug wrench if I had a flat and factory lugs.

It looks good... I want to go with chrome or gun metal... I am trying to pull of the black and white them...

Ericemery-I wouldn't recommend the Night Runner Rims for your white truck. I currently have a Dakota N/R and while the rims look great on that I think trying to contrast them against a white truck just would not be appealing. Pictures really do not accurately depict the rims and the only real way to know what they look like is to see them in person. I believe you would be better off with some aftermarket Black rims. Anyway, you get what you want-I just wanted to give you my opinion before you went and spent appx $2000 on a set of OEM Rims. Good luck with whatever you decide.
