I recieveed my rear lift shackles. They look nothing like the shackles that are on any truck Ive ever seen, there huge heavy duty and horseshoe shaped. I dont understand the horseshoe shape... Does anyone know what Im talking about lol? how would i bolt this thing in the other shackles place? I'll send pics if nesassary.

 

I feel like the new Shackles are in a C shape because the way are shackles are setup on this truck is backwards, the spring bolts above where the shackle is mounted, via an extruding box that comes off the frame. So to LIFT the truck the spring needs to be mounted LOWER but the box is in the way, so the shackle goes around it in a C shape. This cannot be installed without taking the whole spring and axle out... Correct me if Im wrong?

 

i put the rear lowering shakles on my 05. they were the same shakle design as the factory but 2 inches longer. as far as the lifted shakle, do they even make this. changeing out the shakles are easy. put truck up on frame stands. but jack under meatball of rear axle and raise to relive the pressure. you will need a 55 mm torx socket. its the socket that looks like this ( * ) six points. doing one side at a time remove bolts and change out shakles. it is recommended to purchase new bolts before doing this. just a precaution, do to the road grime. also there is al eft and right shackle. if they are not marked put both shakles together make sure they have a slight curve towards each other. this is the way they go looking at the back of the truck

 

so you know what Im talking about with the little box that holds the shackle right? on the outside of the frame? See my shackes are a C shape, so it can go around that box from the back, so the new mounting point is UNDER that box. My problem is not installing th shackle, but getting the leaf spring around the box... I couldnt comrpess the spring straight down cause it would hit the box and stop, and I have to get several inches uder the box, which just isnt possible unless the spring can be moved out, to move around it and go under, which i doubt is possible.

 

who did you get your shackles from? mine were fromsringtech. you may need to go to there web site and download different direction. sounds to me like you need to drop the whole rear assem. to install them. let me see what i can find out. worst case you may need to have some one install them should cost no more than 30.00

 

one person i found out from had to reverse his hangers. had to cut then off and reinstall. other people went with the add a leaf kit and was much happier. they say the add a leaf still gives the truck a great ride and it doesnt affect the towing. were as the shakle kits tends to do the oppisite. harsh ride and not the towing or hauling cap. it should have.
