yeah, i guess you might've. you won't know for sure 'til you get that code read and/or get the truck checked out by a mechanic. getting the code read is a cheaper way to start.

to be honest with ya, i don't blame him for not wanting to report it...you're probably on his policy and, with two accidents in a relatively short time, it's going to raise his rates big time or, possibly, get your whole family's policy canceled.

he's saving both of you a lot of hassle and probably more expense than the repairs would be by themselves, especially if you get dropped.

This is exactly why my parents (and me with my two boys) wouldn't pay my insurance....I had to get a job to pay ALL vehicle expenses. Makes you appreciate a new vehicle MUCH more (especially when you can't afford a brandnew vehicle until you are 30)

How in the hell doesa 17 year old afford a $450 or more a month car payment? As for whining about the body work and insurance, if I was your Dad, I wouldn't do a damn thing for you. Sounds like you've already totaled 1 nice truck and are on the way to totalinganother. I'll tell you this kid, if you don't have a clue by now, you'll probably never have one. Quit the drugs now son, quit'em while you're still ahead...

Oh, and If you go have the code read, it'll probably say something like "please, somebody save me from this jackass". That's JMO though.

that's what i had to do too.

i was lucky enough to get my first new car at 20, but it was just a stripped Saturn (only option it had was a/c) and i paid everything on that, and every subsequent vehicle. you appreciate them more that way...and surely take care of them better.

i fully intend to do that to my kids, if/when i have them.

Remember 05dak3.7 who was kicked out for abusing and attacking members? This is is the same irresponsible moron who now, instead of attacking and abusing our members is doing it to his truck. Will daddy kick in for another truck for this idiot? I hope not. At this rate his Dak will be ready for the scrap heap if it isn't already.I don't know about drugs but definitely irresponsible. It blows my mind that some of our members see nothing wrong with his behavior.quote]ORIGINAL: Flyhalf

Actually isnt that hard. Say said kid works at McD's 30hrs/week @ $8/hr. After taxes said kid takes home $768/month. Most kids dont have much for bills, but usually parents have to co-sign for the loans and many states dont allow minors to have a vehicle in their name without a guardians name on it also.

As for the op, well he's SOL. Like luvmydak said, he isnt gonna learn. Sadly sooner or later he will be involved with an accident that critically injures or kills himself or someone else.
