Default Wake up the Hemi!

I just picked up my new Durango R/T. Great rig, loved the interior fit and finish. I'm a little disappointed with the Hemi - doesn't feel nearly as responsive as it should. In my 09 Ram, I added a CAI and stainless steel magnaflow cat back and found the truck to be much more responsive. Has anyone tried to wake up the Hemi in the Durango? If so, what do you suggest?

First order of business would be just that; CAI and cat-back exhaust. There are none on the market yet that I can find.

I'm considering a trip to a local muffler shop to have a system fabricated and buying a drop in K&N filter.

that would pretty much be first options...the cai and cat back exhaust plus any platnum or iriduim plugs instead of the stock copper plugs but the problem is finding anything right now...havent found much on the market yet

I wouldn't touch the plugs for one. You have 75,000 miles+ before you have to even think about those in that HEMI.

Two, the cat is fine. "Cat Back" indicated replacing the cat to the tip. There is no need to do that. Just take out the muffer and/or resonator after the cat, add the muffler of your choice, fill any extra pipe needs and call it a day. Watch for rear OS sensors, etc that may be present on the new setup.

I'm doing a muffler back as IndyDurango suggests...once installed I'll upload a sound clip for you all.

That monster muffler is very restrictive - I'm doing 304 mandrel buikt stainless steel, looking more for better airflow than sound.

I did notice the difference in filter sizes between the ’11 Ram 5.7 and ’11 Durango 5.7. Not counting pleated surface area because both filters are the same thickness, the Ram’s filter is 13.75”x9.313”=128.05 square inches of surface area vs. the Durango’s at 9.625”x8.875=85.42 square inches of surface area. That’s quite a difference. Btw the Durango uses the same size filter for both the V6 and V8.
