THANKS - definately will be appreciated as I will be replacing my 98 as soon as I can order a 2012.

The QTII is well documented on the Jeep site but no AWD detail is shown on the Dodge site. I make weekly ski trips to Vt with always a worry about heavy snow, tow a boat sometimes with steep launch ramps and through fields during deer hunting. The 2WD, part time and full time 4WD on my 98 has never left me stuck. I like the size of the Durango and would get a Crew with the 5.7 but may select a Larado X due to the difference between QTII and AWD.

So, it's hard to find info on the 6 speed in the Durango, but I have found a decent amount of the 6 speed that's in the new Ram 1500. I am told it's the same tranny.

FROM THE RUMOR MILL: Looks like the "5spd" and 6spd tranny are actually the same tranny, but the 6 speed has slightly different ratios. However, the "5spd" actually has 6 gears, but the 2 second speed gears are extremely close inratio.

FACT: The dealer I'm working with has a 2012 on the lot. As you know, the 2011 to 2012 Ram 1500 made the same tranny move as the Durango will going from 2011 to 2012. The dealer said there is ZERO differnce in gas mileage ratings on the 12 Ram vs. the 11 Ram.

Now I'm starting to think picking up a left over 2011 sounds like a pretty good option.

I picked up my 5.7 Citadel AWD last Thursday. It's pretty similar to the 2011.

They dropped a few features like the Sirius backseat TV and the 3 years of free maintenance. I'm not sure if you can even get the Sirius TV anymore. I tried calling Dodge with no luck.

It's almost impossible to get any info on the truck from Dodge. I called with a few questions about the truck and its features and have been waiting since last Friday for a call back, yet they told me someone would get back to me within 24 business hours. The woman that I spoke to literally was trying to check the Dodge.com website for the answer, and I had to tell her the 2012 models are not even shown online yet.

As for the 6 speed transmission, I'm not impressed. The 5 speed actually seemed smoother to me. At around 55-60 mph it feels like the tranny is hunting for a gear. If it continues to do that I am going to bring it back to the dealer to have it checked out. Plus the fuel economy seems to be on par with the 5 speed. I have been getting about 19 mpg doing almost all highway driving. I know that might improve once the motor is broken in.

If I could do it over I would probably take a left over 2011 with the rebate instead of ordering the 2012. You get more features for less money with the 2011.

all the research i did it just didn't make sense to get a '12, not enough of an improvement (for the V6 pretty much nothing lol). As for that "6spd" just looks like they added another prime gear, not a true 6spd. what a shame. Hopefully the 8 & 9 speeds will be here soon, should be a game changer for the D3 and Jeep. I leased mine, so in 2014 i will be ready for the '15 with a 9 speed and 350hp DI V6 lol..

I know there was a flash for the JGC trans. Perhaps that would help you out too. I had told folks the 5 speed was the one to go until the 8 speed ships. I hope the flash helps that pseudo-6 workout the bugs for you.

Murdock, thanks for your feedback. I was starting to think maybe I should have waited. I still am not sure about the big fuss because this 5 speed rides nice and I havent really noticed all the negative posts I have read about it. Towed my boat for the first time (about 5,000lbs) and was just as smooth. Had to pull boat out of water for this storm that is coming. Now a tree will fall on it while it is in my driveway

Ok, so it looks like they dropped the "Heat" and "Crewlux" and turned the "Express" into the "SXT"

The SXT MSRP is lower than last years Express, anybody know the differences?
