Default 2011 Durango HEMI Mileage

Hi all. I am 2 weeks into a 2011 Durango Crew with the V8. I just took a ~400 mile roadtrip and am quite impressed with the mileage. Averaged right at 20mpg. Significantly (25%+) better than the 1999 Durango 5.9L it replaced.
In town mileage is a bit better than the old truck, but the MDS engine really seems to excel at the 55-65mph range.

How are others doing with their new Durangos ?

I tend to drive a bit more aggressively, so my average is around 16.8(pen and paper calc.). That’s with a 70-80mph 40 mile round trip daily commute and full throttle on the on-ramps. In a few weeks we’ll be driving it 3400+ miles round trip to WV and plan on keeping tight calculations on mileage. I’ll be sure to post the results.

I drive about 99% city and am averaging between 14 and 15 with a Hemi AWD. I little bit more aggressive than average.

First highway trip with the Hemi and a full load, averaging 70 mph with the adaptive cruise on, and I was averaging 23mpg. Of course it was NJ which is pretty flat. I was duly impressed. Around town it's closer to 15 driving easy.

I am averaging around 17.2 miles. I drive about 60% in town and 40% highway. Not to bad for a rwd R/T.

I've had my 2011 Durango R/T Hemi for about 3 weeks now and have 2400 miles on it. Mostly highway miles and am getting between 21 and 22 mpg. A far cry better then my 2000 Durango with a 4.7 that only got about 14. I am extremely happy with the new one, but am a little concerned with all the new technology. I hope it proves to be as reliable as my old one.

Question. Does anyone know if the R/T has a different exhaust then the other Durango models? Mine seems to sound more performance minded.

Yes. The R/T (not sure bout Citadel) has an upgraded exhaust. Nice rumble to my ears though Dmills has got me tempted to go custom. I'll wait on that however since its currently the family car

Mileage - Like Double D, I fill up when needed and just know its not a hybrid I've been meaning to calculate it by hand but for what its worth, the EVIC says 14-15 avg.

13-14 for truly stop and go, town driving. On highway, if cruise is set at 70-75, got 21+
