Default New Dodge Owner

Well hello dodge world , Lets be honest, i am a Nissan man through and through. Hence my wide body 350z in the garage. Nissan has treated me well over the years.

My wife however loves the new dodge durango and wanted one bad apprehensively I went and bought her one.. I hope that dodge treats me the same as my Nissan's have.

I have heard horror stories of the dodge 1500 and its tranny issues. I pray to god that the durango doesnt have these same problems. A friend told me not to to get the durango speaking of his old durango giving him nothing but problems.

Fingers crossed. For now the wifey is happy!

Congrats! My first Dodge, too. Hoping for good results like we had with our Honda Pilot.

Follow the proper service intervals and your trans should be fine over the years.

Ignore it and you will lead the life of failed transmissions like you fear.

It's simply one of the self fulfilling prophesies if you allow it to be.

You've got a 100K powertrain warranty, so you shouldn't worry too much about the tranny. I've heard nothing but trouble for Nissans and would never buy one, so go figure.

LOL thats funny, i guess its like Indy says its what you make of it. The only time I have had a problem with my 350Z is when I put the turbo in. Putting a turbo in that car is a curse. I finally got a good tune and havent had a problem since but then again, there honestly isnt anything stock left in my car to break.

Very true...yes I heard about the horror stories on Nissan's tranny. My co-worker had a Pathfinder only a couple of years old and low miles it blew the tranny, got it fixed promptly traded it for another brand vehicle. Although the new Nissan GT-R is a sick ride!!!

That DOES NOT mean to do NOTHING for 100k miles. The problem is that lack of proper maintenance "because it is under warranty" is exactly what most folks do and that results in premature failures thereafter.

Than again, premature failings may be common for some of these guys.

Agreed. I did not mean to imply otherwise. As a matter of fact, if you can't show you've done proper regular maintenance, I believe they don't have to honor the warranty.

Sorry JRRF. I didn't mean to sound like you implied that. I was just taking the ball and running with it in generalities.

+1 Indeed on the proof. I think the new "free" warranty on the D requires that you follow the schedule. Otherwise, I doubt you could walk in after 4 years with an issue and expect to get any help at all.
