Purple Interior
Has anyone else noticed in direct sunlight discoloration of the interior plastics on the car- specifically, anything that is black?
The dash seems ok, but door panels, back of the front seats, and interior pilliars when in direct sunlight seem blotchy, almost purple in some parts.
Some spots are pretty bad, but they are in inconspicuous areas so you don't really notice. I'm just worried the interior is actually fading and is going to get worse over time.
I will try and post pictures on the next sunny day.

Interesting. Armoral could do this possible?
You are likely seeing the colorization of the ArmorAll oils and not the plastics underneath.
With that said, Gen2 Durangos... especially the 2004... had a TSB for the rear bumper pad fading out from the sun. The plastics were lacking the proper UV protectorate in the plastics compound.
If has happened once, it could happen again. Unlikely, but possible.

The blotchiness occurs when the ArmorAll is absorbed at different rates. You can apply a couple more good coats to evenly saturate the plastic. This can also lessen the perception of the purple effect because there will be more even color distribution and less contrast.

Don't use Armor All!!! May look nice at the moment but eventually dries everything up, especially that black molding on the exterior. Use soap and water on the outside and just a damp cloth on the inside.....
I don’t use Armorall either. I have had great luck with F21 from Turtle wax and have been using it for the past 10+ years on my 2001 D with absolutely no fading, cracking, or signs of drying (shrinking).

On my 2011, the dealer threw in the protection package which uses some kind of enviro friendly stuff. I’ll have to get the name and repost, but it looks and works pretty well so far.

Here's the stuff they used for the package, plus another full box of products.
