Tranny clicking
I have a 11 Citadel hemi and have a very very annoying clicking coming from tranny. Usually when you put in drive, when you begin to move, and especially when you slow down. Cant hear it when windows up but if your in a parking garage or beside another vehicle (it echoes) with your window lowered, it is very loud. Dealer tells me it is the shift interlock and no fix. He says they all do it and mine isnt as bad as some they have sold. I dont believe that, anyone else hearing this or have a magical fix by chance? Havent been around a 2012 but I have listened to other 2011's and not hearing this noise from those ones. Please help!
Use the search or simply look through the forum before posting bster. 15% of all the Gen3 threads pertain to the same clunking noise you have. Ample details in the forum without the clutter need for another thread starting it all over again.
This isnt a clunking noise. This is a very distinct clicking. May be different than others. I have the cluncking when put in gear as well, as I researched on this forum and found to be a common problem. Not sure if this is related or not.
Took my Citadel in for the 4th time to get a number of issues fixed. squeeking dash, heated seats not working, and tranny issues (shifting odd) as well as the clicking issue. Tranny mechanic updated the pcm and added fluid to tranny. How does it go through factory, dealer PDI and 1 oil change with nobody noticing that the tranny is low on fluid? Not leaking either. Mechanic is doing research on clicking as he is starting to think it is getting worse and there has to be a problem, doesn't seem right. No TSB on this issue yet, so if nobody else is complaining, I guess mine might be the only one doing this? Service manager promises to correct all issues and make me love my Durango, but give them time. Seems to be many issues with mine, maybe because of an early build date- March. Maybe for once there is hope that clicking noise will disappear.
How about updating your sig so we know if you have a RWD or AWD? I can't believe how many people are on this forum with empty sigs.
I think ours is a March build also. Haven't heard any clicking yet. I will give it a shot down the driveway with the door open to see if I hear anything.
EDIT: By Sig, I mean the upper right corner where it says "Vehicle".

Mine is the V8 Awd model. Apparently the noise may be connected to the transfer case. I was also told last time that it was the shift interlock mechanism on the tranny. They dont want to go any further with it as they cant tell if it is normal or not. They told me all of there Citadel's do this but why is no one else bringing them back in.

because most people are oblivious to this kind of stuff, unfortunately the majority of Americans want to get in their car, start it, and drive, and not think about it, if they could avoid putting gas in the tank im certain that they would (hell i know of a number of people that dont bother changing oil, they lease vehicles and add oil as the lights tell them to)
