Default 2012 Durango RT Questions

Hello to all. I'm a new forum member and this is my first post.

Let me first say that I recently bought a new 2012 Durango RT, bright silver, AWD, sunroof, 730N Infotainment System, performance tires. I really like this SUV and am very happy so far with no problems whatsoever. I do, however, have a few questions that I was hoping members of this forum could help me with.

1. After driving this for a week, I realized that the 6-speed "manumatic" transmission is not a true "manumatic" (nor a true 6-speed for that matter). When in manual shift mode, the gear that you manually select does not mean that it will stay in that gear but it is just the highest allowable gear. So if I have it in 4th it can downshift to 3rd, 2nd, or 1st. I really don't like this function and was wondering if the transmission can be programmed to stay in the gear that I tell it to stay in? Can anybody help me out on this question?

2. I have the 730N infotainment center but not the rear DVD/TV. I want to enable the front screen to play video from the DVD player but the MyGig Lockpick V4 says it will only work for the 2011 Durango. Does anybody know if it will work for the 2012 D? I'd hate to buy it for $300 to find out it is not compatible.

3. Are there any aftermarket tuner chips available to boost horsepower?

4. Are there any supercharger kits available specifically built for the 2012 D?

FYI, I traded in two vehicles to get this Durango (2009 Pontiac G8 GT and 2001 Mitsubishi Montero). I wish that DOdge would have put the new 8-speed transmission in the 2012 D because I think it could and should be a bit quicker than it is.....but that's just dreaming now.

Thank you very much and any info would help.

What is your radio code? It's three letters on the bottom right corner of your deck. The 2011's with the 730N's are RHR's. If you have the same code you should have any problems with the lock pick. You can also look into All Gig from Nav-tv.com. I took mine out of my 09 Ram I traded in for my DRT and will be seeing if it works this weekend.

My radio code is RHR. I wonder why none of the websites list the 2012 Durango as being compatible.......2011 D's are always listed but never a 2012 so that's why it led me to the question. Thanks for your input.

Does anybody have info on my performance related questions?

Thanks

Because the 2012 model is relatively new to the marketplace and companies have to make sure their products are compatible with new models before they stamp their name on it.

With regard to the transmission question, the answer is no. You have the 2-speed transfer case which is paired with a different transmission.

The D with a single speed transfer case is paired with a WA580 (NAG1) like I have on my Charger, which allows you to select and hold a gear within the appropriate parameters.

The 2-speed transfer case by design restricts you from manually selecting gears, but it allows you to set a MAX range on the tranny for use while towing or climbing.

As for the tuners and superchargers, the PCM is encrypted by Chrysler and so no aftermarket tuning is available, which eliminates the possibility of an S/C since it needs to be tuned as well. This may change soon.

Eventually Diablo will crack it and have a tuner available. They achieve great results with all other dodge applications. I heard a rumor they have cracked the 2011 charger code so it may be the same deal on the Durango.

Welcome to the club! I have a '12 R/T as well. I just added a CHR550 lockpick which I purchased through another forum member, Double D Mods. I think it was $269.00 I know it works well with the RHR Nav unit. It is sourced from Coastal tech. I love it and you won't be disappointed. Easy install and very functional.
