Default Stock HID bulb type - 2012 D R/T

Newbie here...

after researching all different forums out there...I found this to be the most interactive and informative.

With that said, couple days ago purchased 2012 D R/T...and looking to swap the stock HID with aftermarket 6000K that will also match with a retrofit HID kit for the fog lights. Been reading the DIY for bumper removal...great writeups!

Can someone direct me to the appropriate bulb size for the stock HID? Is it the D1S or D2S? also glad to see some of you actually ddm customers as well...as they are my trusted source to get any HID related items.

Oh one more thing, what's the bulb spec for the fog light? H7? H11?

Thanks much

I am pretty sure they are neither d1s, or d2s. I also wouldnt change the bulb temp, you will loose output in brightness, and aftermarket bulbs will never compare in quality to oem bulbs they all come from china. Im not saying don't do it but you offering you my advice.

The fog light bulb is a d2404 or something like that. I looked into getting some silverstars to replace my fog light bulbs with but they are not available yet.

You might be correct in terms of aftermarket being not as bright as OEM...especially when you go up in temperature...though I had found so far the kit from ddmtuning provides the best solution...just not sure if it's d1s or d2s...and don't want to pull the bumper to simply look at which one. I was hoping someone here already did it

The 2012's have an access in the fender well, directly behind the headlight....or at least my R/T does.

Fog lights on the new Durango are a joke. Any suggestions for upgrades? Can the housing take a higher wattage bulb without melting?

If you want a foglight upgrade, I would suggest an hid retrofit with projector's or replacing the entire foglight housing with something else. the foglights shine about 4-5feet in front of the truck, which for me is perfect since my quad hid retrofitted headlights have foreground limiters so it works great together.
