Default Hit tow/haul before leaving my driveway...

otherwise at 40 MPH around town the D is going back and forth between 4 and 8 cylinders. Anyone else press tow/haul immediately after start?

No because I'm not towing or hauling anything......Its supposed to go back and forth so that you get better gas milage. And if it happens at 40MPH go faster like 45-55MPH

If you can't go faster, then activate the ERS (electronic range selection) and leave it in 5 this will lockout the MDS feature, but will not mess with the tranny shifts at least until you hit highway speeds, but then you would want the MDS anyway.

i lock out OD (basically what the tow/haul does) whenever i am driving around town, gives you better shifts, holds gears a little bit longer, and reduces wear on the tranny because its not trying to shift into OD before its supposed to, just remember to turn it back on when you hit the highway otherwise you will be burning alot of extra gas.

I would think you'd burn extra gas around town as well if the ECO system is locked out too. Every time you take your foot off the gas the car goes into ECO mode even at low speed.

not sure about this on the new ones, but on mine (2002 w/ the 4.7l v8) i get better mpgs around town doing it the way that i do, i also get some engine braking effect (not much mind you, but it is there a bit) which will limit the fuel supply if the momentum of the vehicle is enough to push the engine along(also we dont have an ECO mode, lol)
