Adding factory rear view camera
Hey gang,
My 2012 Durango R/T did not come with the rear view camera and I thought I wouldn't miss it. Boy was I wrong. I really want to know if you can add the factory camera if it was not equipped with one. The dealer says no, but I don't trust them. Seems like the wiring harness should be there. I found the part number for the camera ($300). I have also read where Ram owner did a similar upgrade.
Any help would be great!
Thanks,
-Will

get a lockpick or an all gig and buy an aftermarket camera. Don't waste $300 on an OEM one. Got an All Gig and a DEI camera for my ram and worked like a charm. Not to mention it unlocks the DVD and Nav Input on the move functions.
New here
. . just bought a 2012 Durango R/T last week.
Short story - -> two different dealers, same answer = can't sell camera
Long story:
We found a Durango at local lot that we liked, except one option, it did not have a backup camera. My wife insisted it was mandatory. The dealer obviously wanted to sell the one they had, so said they could install one later. . . they listed all the part nos. on the "we owe" list. . . We signed all the papers and drove the Durango home. Next day they called and said that when they went to order the parts, Dodge would not send to them. . . I went to another dealer and pretended to want to add, they also said "can't get the parts".
In our case, we took the 1-day old Durango back, and he exchanged with a different dealer for one with camera factory installed.
