Default Possible New Owner

Good day everyone,

I'm in the market for a new vehicle and I have to say, the new Durango's have really caught my eye. My ultimate goal was to get a Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab, however, I'm now leaning towards this glorious looking Durango.

I'm shopping around for the best deal, and came across a 2011 Citadel for $42k, marked down from $49k. They even said they'd work out more of a deal if I wanted to pursue it. The Crew was originally in the budget, but the Citadel just really stands out in the inside!

Hopefully I can be among the other drivers within the near future!

SFC_McClintock,

Sounds too much for a 2011. Check truecar.com. They show $39,216 as an average price on a 2011 Citadel.

I'll have to stretch my autotrader search out further to see if I come up with anything less. Doesn't appear to show anything less within 100 miles of my zip code unfortunately.

The 39k I'm seeing you mention on truecar.com is dealercost, not the average cost.

You can do lower on an '11. I got a fully loaded RWD Hemi with DVD and tow for 38.4 + ttt. No other fees. A '12 on average was running $4k more.

Also, just go to dodge.com, and start looking for other dealers in your area. My local dealer wouldn't deal on an '11 probably since it would have involved a swap with some other dealer as they only had '12s on the lot, so I ended up just taking to drive to that other dealer to get the '11 I finally found just how I wanted.

I guess you are looking at the AWD. I pulled up the price on a RWD for you. Possible New Owner-2011-citadel.jpg.

Either way, I think you can get a better deal than quoted. Start dealing with them and see how low they will go.

One thing to consider is that the market average and good price numbers vary by city and the OP hasn't stated where they are from. I've see these numbers vary by a few thousand some times, depending on the town!!!!

And in affluent areas, many times, the "best price" is from dealers 100 miles away.

Sorry, I should have stated that in my original post. Yes, it's the AWD. I'm considering asking if they can locate a V6 Citadel, as that will lower the price, save on gas money, and honestly I don't need the power of the V8. If I mention this, perhaps they'll drop the price even more considering they don't have any V6 Citadel's on the lot.

Happyfirst,
+1 on that. It is all about doing the research, finding out what others paid, deciding on what you are willing to pay and finding the deal. It took me a while and 230 miles to find what I wanted and the price I was willing to pay.

Is the V8 available with AWD or 4WD? I just checked edmunds, and they say only the V6s get FULL TIME AWD. On the V8, it's on demand via a switch.

The full-time AWD system is only available with the V6 engine. The on-demand 4WD system features dual-range gearing (which makes it more capable on more challenging terrain) and requires the V8 engine.
