Can somebody comment on the front bumper clearance? I'm still undecided between Durango Citadel and Jeep GC Overland where Dodge appeals with 3rd row and Jeep gives better off-road capability. Looking at front of Durango I have noticed that there is not much of the space between lowest bumper point and the ground which can present problem on the steep hills. Did anybody take Durango for a little more challenging off-road trips?

Due to the low bumper overhang of the Durango I wouldn't drive it to some challenging off road obstacles, this vehicle is meant more for the urban jungle (snow), sand, unpave and gravel roads. The JGC on the other hand like you mentioned was built with off road capability in mind and I believe the front air dam is removable to provide additional clearance for the approach angle.

Thank you guys. That was my understanding as well. Although I'm not sure if it was a good idea to keep Durango off off-road, considering that he shares a lot with JGC.

Sidewinder nailed it...Also, according to the salesman (if you want to believe them), Dodge didn't want the Durango competing with the jeep in the "off-road" market. We just bought a 2011 Durango Crew, and with all the low lying body parts, it will not be doing any serious off roading.
