New owner, first post, here it goes:
December 2011 (after six months of research) I purchased an AWD 2011 Citadel with Hemi and rear DVD. I had planned on buying a 2012 RT, but there weren’t any readily available with the rear DVD. Since my kids are 5 and 2, the DVD is mandatory!
First off, the Hemi is an absolute powerhouse! I am surprised at the reviews knocking the performance. My D is more than adequate for a 5,400 lb SUV. I agree that the transmission could be geared better. 1st gear is too high, the dual 2nd gear is odd, and the 3rd gear is already at the 1.00 ratio (it usually takes 4 gears to get at 1.00). It has 2 over drive gears, which is ok as one can be used during heavy loads. I like that the 545RFE is a heavy duty transmission that has been used in ½ ton Dodge/Ram trucks (with high towing capacity) for years.
Three weeks ago, I rented a 2012 Mustang GT in Las Vegas. It had the close ratio six speed automatic. This thing could chirp the tires at almost any speed! Definitely the fastest car I have driven and not a vehicle for the inexperienced! But … what I didn’t enjoy - was all the excessive shifting. Anyway, after 4 days of driving the Mustang 5.0 with poor visibility, it was a pleasure to hop in the big D with the 5.7! And ya know what? The Hemi still feels plenty fast to me! If you want a super fast SUV, buy the new Jeep SRT8.
Here are some things I would change: Offer the option of low range/4WD lock for the V6. Add a turn off switch for the AWD. Hey, it’s fun to play in 2wd!
After 8 weeks, I am very pleased with this vehicle! It looks great, fun to drive and it’s really comfortable. For my needs, it is the perfect family truckster! However, the gas mileage is not great! I have been averaging 14-16 city/hwy mix. I believe I could manage about 19 MPG on a long distance trip driving at 60-70 MPH.

We've had our 2012 AWD Cit for 3 weeks now. Its awsome. Gas mileage with the V6 is a little better than what you are getting, but its still not a diesel jetta (50mpg) its more around mid 20's which is exactly the same as the volvo wagon we traded in. So for a 5500lb AWD truck that is pretty good.
I just put on the hitch & plan to plug in the electrical harness tonight/tomorrow. Found it on youtube - looks crazy easy.
Love it! Couldn't be happier so far.

Hey Mixer, I've read somewhere that you have to drive a few thousand miles before you start getting the optimal gas mileage. I have a tundra crewmax limited with toy's 5.7 on 24" wheels and I get 17-18mpg so I'm sure your gas mileage is going to improve.
Note: I'm selling my tundra to get a Durango r/t
