Default Leather Seat Recommendations

I have been lurking on this cool site for a couple of months as we researched SUVs. Strongly considered an Explorer until we saw the new Durango at the auto show and it was all downhill from there . Finally settled on a Citadel V8 AWD D. We will order it to get exactly what we want. The question we are wrestling with is seat color. We really like the tan leather seats over the black leather but are worried about keeping them clean and dye transfer. Nothing looks worse than blue jean stained seats.

Does anybody here have any experience with the tan leather seats in the D and how well they resist dye transfer from clothing such as jeans? Thx in advance!

Stick with the black, any tan leather I've ever had held up like ***

Ours is 6 months old. The tan does start to turn blue once in a while but it's nothing the Armor-all Leather Cleaner/Conditioner can't take care of. We didn't like the color at first site but after a few minutes it really started to grow on us because it is more complex then just black.

A side note, I wear blue jeans every day of my life, my 04 Lincoln LS has lighter colored seats then the Durango and they are not stained blue either. They are slowly deteriorating though.

I think it will come down to a personal choice, but in my case I prefer black. Maybe it is just my perception, but I think most of the brown interiors tend to look orange.

The flip side of the black leather (which I have in both my cars) is that every speck of dust, crap and dirt shows up very obviously. I have two little kids and as a result I'm putting the meguiars quik interior detailer guy's kids through college.

We had grey leather in a previous car that did over time get some blue stains on it but with leather cleaner it comes of.

I would have chosen a different color other than black but I didn't like the tan color which is too lightly colored. Wish the D came with a more darker orange tan color like the Acura MDX has.

Default tan or grey

I went with the Greystone 2 tone, The Black/Black/ Black was a little too monotone for me, its a little too early to tell about durability but i think any marks can be cleared up wuth the right products. I use Lexol brand leather conditioner.
