I'm not sure, but it sounds reasonable. Did they say they would charge you to link up a new radio to your vehicle?

They told me that i would have to find a radio that came out of a 2011-2012 because of the usb jack in the arm rest. They said the older vehicles did not have the usb. They also said that you need a scan tool to program the vin number into the new radios to activate them. Something to do with the canbus system in the car and how the factory radio communicates with everything. They actually recommended the aftermarket radio because of the amount of work to get a fatory radio to work with all the different uconnect systems they have.

We would have purchased a durango with the better radio but none were available anywhere near me unless I went with a hemi or got one with leather. Give me your guys thoughts I would appreciate it.
Im in a similar situation. I am going to be replacing my old MomVan with a '12 Durango. I bought a Kenwood MultiMedia NAV unit and LOVE IT. My Wife has a Jeep Liberty with the MyGIG radio and I really dont understand why the UI looks so cheesy and there's No Integration for an IPod. My Kenwood controls everything seamlessly. The MyGiG interface to load/unload music is clunky IMHO.

That being said, I will probably opt for the cheapest radio I can find and swap in my Kenwood. Question I have is if the existing AMP and speakers are adequate or should I be looking to update those as well?

It just depends on the model of the d that you get. most come with the 9 speaker alpine system (imo its a joke). The sxt is one that doesnt. i also believe that it doenst have an external factory amp either. I would start out with replacing the deck first. them move onto the speakers after.

Thanks Baum. I had heard similar about the Alpine not really being all that great. Sure wish they would sell me a car without a system and cut 500 bucks off the price

After reading some of the other threads, sounds like to get full functionality of the various integrated features, maybe I'm better off just sticking with the MyGig. I just will miss my IPod integration. I have about 100 gigs worth of music on it and was nice to have everything available at my fingertips.

I have the the upgraded, and im an audiofile guy. this is the first vehicle i have owned in 15 years where i didnt gut the entire stereo out within the first week of ownership. I have the 430n? i think (non nav, but touch screen, cam,... alpine system) I tore out the front speakers for a good set of components, added a 4 channel amp and a custom box and a 12" sub. Even the components on the stock amp made a HUGE difference. but i wanted better so i hooked them up to my amp.

The way i have it set up you cant tell anything is in the vehicle. stock deck, no visible sub or amp.

Kenwood has anew harness coming out late this summer for the new 90 series radios that will be the best harness on the market. It will allow you to retain all the stock features ie- sat radio, sw controls, usb ect.

I am waiting for this harness to swap out the stock garbage unit I have for a 9990HD

Test drove a Crew with teh V6 and fell in love. The sales guy assured me that the new MyGig 430N does offer iPod integration in the touch screen. Not believing him i googled the manual and sure enough, you can plug the iPod into the USB port inside the center console (out a sight) and have interactive access through the touch screen. Can anyone confirm? I guess my next test drive will include the iPod test as well as a large cup of Starbucks. I hate where the liberty cup holders; find myself reaching back to get the cup... Dont designers drink in the car?

So, I guess ill leave the kenwood in the trade in and save my money for a better set of speakers and amp.

Well just a side note... there is NOTHING new about the MG430N. Just a note to remember and keep under your hat when taking to that same sales guy again.
