Default 8 Speed availability?

Anyone know if the 8 Speed auto will be on the 2013 model? I am ready to pull the trigger but don't want the 6 speed if the 8 speed will be in the 2013 models.

I would think the Durango would see it for 2013 or 2014...

The 8 spd tranny availability is coming but not fast enough, other models from the Dodge/Chrysler product line up have them already and read some positive reviews. Maybe in 2013 or 2014 we'll see it.

The Ram gets it in '13 but not yet for the D. http://www.allpar.com/model/ram/2013-ram.html

I read mixed reviews about more and more speeds. Sure, there will most likely be an improvement in gas mileage but I wouldn't expect it to be some earth shattering improvement. I would guess 1-2 mpg at best. And then the main complaint with more speeds is that people get annoyed feeling even more and more shifts.

If you really want a D, just get one. IMO, an 8 speed tranmission alone isn't worth waiting for.

Interesting reading for sure. I would assume the D would gain the same % of MPG as the Ram and they are saying an extra 2-3 MPG for the Ram. That would make the D around 25 MPG.

Well if it won't be available with the Hemi then I don't want to wait.

Wannabe,

There has been no official announcement on if/when the 8 speeds will be put in the Durango's. Until the official announcement is made, any estimates given are subject to change.

Yeah I know, I have been scouring the web looking for info that would give me a little insight. I guess I could buy the 6 speed equipped Durango and wait for reviews of the 8 speed and trade in if I want.

May not be earth shattering on the MPGs but the 8 spd tranny makes better use of the engine powerband. Tell it to the Charger folks...
