High Pitch Sound
My wife and I bought a Citadel last year and for the last 3 weeks the SUV has started to make a high pitched squeal similar when air excapes from a tea kettle. This only happens when we shut the car off after driving for 30+ minutes. I tried to see where under the engine compartment the sound is coming from but have not been able to locate it. Has any of you guys ran into issue? An Oh by the way after a year we still love the vehicle!
Have you been using the A/C lately? You might be hearing the compressor bleeding down after you shut it off. If you have been using it, try turning it off and shutting it off to see if it makes the same noise. They can be pretty noisy, my 2500 Ram is very loud. Good luck and if you can't seem to figure it out just take it in.
We got a new 2012 Durango with a V6 on the 14th and since day 1 I've heard this steady high pitch sound from under the hood once the car is started. You can't hear it from inside and it's not particularly loud. I tried pinpointing the exact location but it's difficult given how its high pitch. I didn't know if this was normal for these engines as I'm not familiar with them. My guess would be a belt or pulley giving off the sound.

Wow,
I could find no service bulletin with the symptoms as you have described. If you think that it is something that is not normal or if it gets worse I would suggest having the dealer take a look at your vehicle.
Chris,
I took it to the dealership service dept and they say it's the power steering and is "normal". It does change pitch when turning the wheel. Maybe it's just my sensitive ears.. my wife could barely hear it!
Anyway.. it's in the shop now as the window regulator needs replacement.
