Default Problems with Key Fob

I have an 11 Crew Lux that I have now owned for about 3 months and have started having issues with 1 of the key fobs sometime not working. I will get the message that the key is not detected. This is my wife's key and her truck so I may be having issues with mine as well but I do not really get a chance to drive it other than on the weekends. I had the issue once with my key about a month ago but I had also locked and set the alarm as I was getting in so I thought i may have confused it a bit. She has been having issues about 95 percent of the time over the last week or so. We ended up popping out the start button so she could at least drive. Has anyone had a issue like this? Is the key fob covered under warranty?

you are covered under warranty. Pretty sure theres a TSB for Grand Cherokees with this problem...so there could be one for the Durango. If theres a TSB....it would be listed on wk2jeeps.com

I have found that the key fob signal can be interrupted at times when it is in the same pocket as my I-phone. I was telling this to my brother who has a lexus and he discovered the same problem. Just try keeping the key fob in a different pocket. I realize this may not be your problem but just wanted to put that info out.

My dealer jsut fixed the same problem. 2011 RT - wouldn't recognize the key fob. Sometimes it did, then you would be driving and it would say "key not detected". I brought it in and they had found there is a software update that needed to be done. Has been fine ever since.

I've been having the same problem, even with the key fob sitting on the center console with no phone nearby. Need to find some time this week to bring it in to see what the problem is.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The service flash corrects the following conditions:
· Intermittent no start
· Intermittent RKE function
The above conditions may be caused by a software lockup in the module. The lockup
condition may be cleared by removing and reinserting fuse M27.
Flash reprogramming the WIN will correct these conditions.
DIAGNOSIS:
Verify that the Wireless Ignition Node is functioning as designed. If DTC's are present,
record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further.
If a customer’s VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other
customers that describe the symptom/condition, perform the Repair Procedure.
