Default What oil in a 2012 R/T?

I have a 2012 Durango R/T. I am due for an oil change and am wondering what kind of oil anyone suggests using. I have read the manual, but was just wondering if anyone has had good luck with anything specific. I do a minor amount of towing and city/highway miles.

Thanks

I was talking with a buddy about this tonight as we popped the hood and admired the 5.7 HEMI.

What are your thoughts on running dinosaur oil for the first 10K and then switching over to Mobil 1 Synthetic?

Great idea? Bad idea? Worth the extra money?

Switch to synth as soon as you can is always a good idea.

Changed mine a couple of days ago. Bought regular Pennzoil 5w20 after sleeping on it I returned that generic stuff and bought Mobil1 synthetic. Car feels so much smoohter no regrets whatsoever.

Use whatever oil you are comfortable with as long as it is the recommended viscosity. I suggest synthetic due the high frequency of miles between the manufactures recommended service. But don't get to hung up on the brand. If you are overly concerned with it you can always send samples to black stone labs and that will give you an accurate rate of wear.

I changed to Mobil 1 at 2,100 miles. I plan on keeping the D R/T under 7,000 miles a year with oil changes in the spring and fall.
