Default Rear center console question

I am looking at getting a 2012 Durango RT. I am looking for one with the rear captains chair but without the larger rear console to make 3rd row seat entry easier.

The only I can find that isn't fully optioned out, does have the large rear console.

Does anyone know if I can remove that and put the factory smaller console in its place? Or will the smaller console not cover up the hole where the larger one was?

Thanks
Ryan

Not sure about removal but the large console does have a 12v and USB connection. There would be wiring to deal with as well if removed.

Yea, I did know about the wiring, but wasn't sure if it would fit under the smaller console. I can't tell anything from Mopar's parts site.

I am going to stop at a dealer tomorrow and compare.

Im not sure about one covering up the hole of the other but I have the captains chairs and large console in my Citadel and the larger console acts as the armrests. I believe the mini console vehicles have armrests attached to the captains chairs. So, that may be something you want to look at as well. I have considered switching myself but I would want armrests also.
I'm curious what you find out.

I have the captains chairs with the standard mini console or cup holders. As you can see from my pictures, when you don't have the big console, you get arm rests built into the chairs. Also here's a picture of the mini console or cupholders. Definitley a much smaller footprint compared to the big console.

By the way my wife/kids love this setup. Little ones can get in and walk to the 3rd row without lifting of any chairs.

Thanks for the heads up on the armrests. Didn't even think about that. I'll just keep looking until I find the setup I want. I'll just have to expand the search.

Good luck. RT's are harder to come buy. Getting an RT the way you want optioned is even harder. I ended up ordering mine. I would still talk to your local dealer. You'll still be able to negociate or "wheel and deal" with a pre-order. Obviously you give up some leverage because the car is not on the lot. But I was surprised when I placed my order that my dealer will still willing to come down in price on a pre-order.
