Default Power Lift Gate Question

I have a 2011 Crew Model. Is there a way to open/close the power lift gate from the Drivers seat (other than clicking on the key fob)? There are occassions, when I want to open and close the lift gate, without getting out of the drivers seat. Maybe I am the only one that does this, but seems like a big oversight not to have a button on the dash for this.

Is it there, and I just haven't seen it??

My 2012 Citadel has a button. It's located on the overhead ceiling console panel, where the garage door opener buttons are and sunroof button. I use it all the time.

Under what conditions are the button disabled? . . I know it is disabled while "moving", because I tried to open one time while backing a trailer.

Is there a way to disable the button thru programming? I would like to disable it when a hitch-mounted cargo box is installed.

It would be nice if the gate would not open by the button, if the park-sensors detected an obstacle, but I don't think that functionality is present.

If the lift gate runs into even mild resistance, it will stop. I haven't tested it against anything other than my own strength, but at least it's good to know that damage wouldn't be significant.
