Default Gas Mileage

So, I'm a member of another forum and I posted over there about my new Durango and wowzers! There are a couple of folks over there going on and on and on about the gas mileage of the Durango. A great part of me could really care less. I wanted this ride, I like this ride and since I don't put more than 10k miles on a vehicle in a year anyway, I'm really not worried about the gas mileage.

But.....

It got me wondering though, what is everyone's experience with Gas Mileage on their Durango's? And what engine do you have? I have the Hemi 5.7.

My mixed driving average is 18.5. Took a road trip to Williamsburg, VA yesterday and had 7 passengers (4 adults, 3 kids) and my average indicated ~22mpg. I'm like you though - I could really care less about the MPG it gets

Like you I drive very little, ~15-20 miles a day so I didn't buy my Hemi Durango based on MPGs although it is something I look at. I'm pro Durango and think the 2011+ Durangos are right on target with the competition - in all aspects, price, power, options, and MPGs.

I've been getting slightly over 15 MPGs with my commute to work. My average speed is about 22 MPH for this commute so I consider it to be 100% city. I have taken it on a couple short highway trips (<100 miles) and at Texas highway speed, ~75 MHP, I get about 22+ MPGs.

15-20MPG is average for a decade on all Ds. You are right that you don't buy a Durango for the gas milage.

If you're buying a $40K+ gasoline vehicle then it's pretty obvious that gas mileage isn't a big deal to most, especially if it's a Hemi!

Hemi for me, computer say 13 mpg but I'm in the sf bay area so we have lots of hills and I like the sound of the Hemi. Plus still have less than 1k miles in the odo.
