FCW will only activate if it senses your closing speed is greater than 10MPH, but is programmed to ignore vehicles travelling in the opposite direction.

When FCW activates, you WILL know it. The display will show a big angry BRAKE ! ! ! command, an audible alarm and will start braking the vehicle even before you can move your foot to the pedal.

I don't know of any software updates for that particular module, but since the sensor alone is $2000, the dealer has a lot of hoops they'll have to jump through before FCA authorizes a replacement.

DodgeCares: Any knowledge of problems like this?

Moparcrzy,

Are your symptoms the same as what has been described above? What has your dealership had to say about it so far?

coldsteel,

I researched it and haven't found any TSBs or similar documented symptoms.
