Two questions from a newbie
Hi
I have a 2012 Citadel (HEMI).
There's a couple of issues (I think) that I wondered if anyone out there might be able to explain for me.
Firstly I've notice that the power button on the rear view mirror just flashes continuously. I mentioned it to the dealer, and they said there was a fault and they have replaced the mirror, but low and behold it still flashes. It is both distracting whilst driving at night, and also I am unable to tell if the auto-dimming feature is on or off until I get a headlight on my mirror. Pressing the button causes the flashing to stop momentarily before starting again.
Secondly I have switched on the auto-dipping headlights, but I do not notice any dipping (or dimming) in fact where I live which is both rural and has some steep sharp turns, it is almost impossible to see the road ahead without having full beam on. But to do that I have to put the car in park and change the settings. The dealer said that the lights show no faults.
Any ideas?
James.

The flashing light on the mirror is obviously an uncorrected fault. A small piece of electrical tape can cover the light so the flashing won't distract, but take it to another dealer.
DodgeCares will likely chime in about the mirror.
The SmartBeam (auto-dimming) headlamps have to be A) enabled in the EVIC setup screen, B) the multifunction switch (stalk) needs to be in the high beam position (forward) and C) the Headlamp switch needs to be in the AUTO position.

The lights are auto-dimming: you put them on high and they dim when necessary, not the other way around. They do not auto-bright when in the normal position and they will not auto-dim if the headlight switch is in the ON position.
I tried putting the lights on high beam last night, but it makes no discernible difference between high and low beam. The lights do not change brightness or adapt for changes in elevation - which makes driving on country roads hazardous at best. I will take it to the dealer again, although my confidence with the dealer I am currently using is starting to wain.
I took it to them last week and explained about the review mirror's power button that continues to flash, but by the time it got to the engineer all they did was check for faults and said there were none and so no work was done.

Congrats on your new ride. Does "auto-dipping"=auto leveling headlamps? If so then they only adjust when you first start up to compensate for any weight(cargo or trailer) at the rear of your Durango. That way your lights won't be pointed skyward if you're towing. Start your Durango with headlights set to AUTO at night and you should see them cycle. It would be cool if they actively reacted to terrain grade changes.
