Brake Problems
Hey 3rd Gens,
Loud, embarassing screetching noise (only while in motion whether fast or slow, not while idling) prompted me to take my 2011 Durango Citadel (under 12,000 miles) into service.
Service says...
"The technician performed road test and verified the sound. The sound is coming from the pads to rotors. rotors are heat glaze. The rotors need to be resurfaced and pads. The front and rear pads needs to be replaced. The front pads are $399.00 to replace and rear pads are $335.00. You do have Bumper to Bumper Warranty however maintenance items such as brakes are not covered through any warranty."
Make sense? I have to double check all my warranties but isn't there something that covers this? Possible defects? Normal driving.

Rotors and Pad warranty is 12 months 12,000 miles. If you are over the 12 months I would suggest a call to the Chrysler Customer Assistance Center and ask them to cover the repair anyway. Numbers below.
800-992-1997 United States
800-465-2001 Canada
Warranty info can be found here for the Durango. Put in year and model then check page 7.

Bam! "brakes (rotors, pads, linings, drums)"
Called cust svs back to get another opinion and bam!, they called dealer to confirm that at least the front brakes were covered (source of noise). I opened a case for the rear brakes.
Thanks so much for your help!

At least you're covered. I would however, be concerned as to why this service needed to be done so soon...

Yep, I mentioned that just a week or so back. Even consumables such as brakes and shocks ARE covered within the first 12 month/12,000 mile warranty.
With that said, time to learn how to alter the driving habits. Either suddenly braking way to late or dragging the brake way to often. Either way, that is going to be an expensive problem going forward until the driver learns to trust the vehicle, the braking power as is and properly brakes going forward.
Has to be the driver, very little reported concerns of faulty brake components on the Gen3.
