Hid s causing durango to shur down

Default Hid s causing durango to shur down

Hey guys today i had hids installed .As i left the shop i noticed my TPMS light go on but after a few seconds it will go off.Heres the problem 10 min later in the middle of the road the truck completely shut off . All codes and warning lights came on and as a result i unable to stop vehicle. I called the shop and they quickly arrived they unplugged the kits and reset the battery .anyone have an idea why this woild happen

Were you able to pull the codes? Which kit did you install?

Question

I reinstalled the fog hid lights no codes .everything fine .i tried again with the low beam hid back to the same issue .every code u can imagine goes on . I dont know the brand name hid but will find out tomorrow .i have heard of interference .but For that to shyt down my truck completely while driving is unacceptable.my truck only has 4300 miles

I would get those things out of my D ASAP, before they mess something up for good!!

Sounds like EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) at work. Check the grounds on the new HID's

Thanks guys for advice heading to the shop and checking other alternatives .i really like that hid look especially 8k but i refuse to screww my durango up permanently. The shop heas offered to refund me the $$$ if they cant get those low beams to work without causing major problems.

D3 how certain are u that EMI is the cause .Have u experienced anything like that i mean i have a 2005 altima se-r with Hids never had a problem thats why i wanted hid on my Durango.

What were the codes though? Did they use a harness and relays to install the kit? Which kit was this?

This was discussed in a bimmer forum. And with all the electronics in the D today got to be some sort of interference. Check the grounds most EMI are grounding issues.

Heres the update guys .i finally got this hid installed yesterday .They used a wiring harnessand relays plus a resistor . it seem like thjs dodge computers are sensative that itll shut down .so far no problems no codes on the dash .the only thing is i did see the Tire pressure monitoring system icon pop up but it turns off after a few seconds. I will monitor this and update everyone . Thanks guys check back in a few days.
