Default Cargo strap under cargo well access panel

Does anyone know what the strap with the hook is for? The strap is located under the cargo access panel. I suspect it's to hold the panel open somehow while accessing the tire jack.

I didn't notice that before. It hooks over the weatherstripping at the top of the lift gate.

J6L,

I am a little confused with what you are inquiring about. Are you referring to the Cargo Tie-Down Hooks, which are located on the cargo area floor? Those hooks are used to safely secure loads when the vehicle is moving.

It is stored in a recess on the bottom right side of the cover for the rear cargo well.

Do I win?

If I recall, its in the owners manual and is used to keep the cover from falling and hitting to when bending over in to get the jack or other items stored under the floor. The hook attaches to the top of the rubber molding when the liftgate is open. There is a picture on the quick start card that comes with the vehicle.
