why?? if you want better sound add an aftermarket amp and sub or change out the speakers.

not to mention if you look at the specs for it its a 4.1 channel system. the D is a 6.1. this is only "368 watts" the alpine in the d is "500".

I have changed my front speakers out with a nice set of 6.5" components and a 12" sub with a 4 channel amp running everything. its makes a huge difference in sound.

Yeah, I would definitely go aftermarket amp and replace the sub as well. I have equipment from my old car that I'm going to be putting in, I just have to decide on a head unit. I'm pretty close to ordering the Pioneer AVIC-Z140BH. I've got two MTX amps, one for pushing the highs, and one for the subs, and two 12" Alpine Type R's. I'll probably reduce that to just one sub

My gripe on the stereo... the satellite audio quality is dismal. Some stations worse than others - as if they figure if you like classic rock they can compress it more. Ok, the more I listen to it the more I could go for more clarity in the mids and highs. The strange thing is that on some songs it sounds great, then a different song or source just sounds flat.

Baum - what speakers did you go with? Did they fit in stock locations with stock grilles? I had heard in the past that many stock heads were engineered to be paired with very specific speakers so aftermarket speakers would seldom work well with a factory head unit. I take it that wasn't a problem?

I have diamond audio hex series 6.5" components system. they are like 9 years old, but i have always paired them with the correct power so they play like new still. same with my JL sub. its the same age. i had to make plates for the round speaker to sit on, the factory is a 6x9. my tweeters are in the stock locations.

yes they are all in the stock locations and NO mods were needed to the door panels. they only way you can tell that anything is in the vehicle is if you look at the tweeters. my cones are yellow behind the grills. Othersise my sub is completely concealed. since in my durango heat i dont have a 3rd row i built a custom box to sit flush with the floor where one of the seats would have gone.

I have my factory head unit. factory rear speakers. i only replaced the fronts and added a sub. i didnt want to loose any of the u-connect, back-up cam features. depending on the sound you are after there are many different types of processors that will take the stock signal, let you tune it and give you the outputs needed for an amp. i myself just used a simple hi-lo converter (like what you can get at wally world).

Default Amps

I know that this is an old post butdo you have the amp pin out diagram by any chance. I got two new amps. One forthe sub and a 4 channel for the door speakers but I can find the diagramanywhere. Do you think is possible to run the door speakers on the new amp andthe sub on the other and leave the rest on the stock? Am I making any sense? Ijust want a boost in volume and bass. I also found a post and the guy statednot to bypass the stock amp and to install the new one between the stock ampand the speakers. This is very confusing. Any inside is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance
