Default P0128

Got the P0128 code again yesterday.

I think I'm going to replace the thermostat.

Should I buy OEM or get one at the local auto parts store for 12.99?

The Durango has 80K miles.

Default P0128

Got P0128 code today. It comes back every 4 weeks approximately.

Still haven't decided what to do. The DD has 85,000 miles.

You've been driving it 2 months with a cooling system DTC? Why?

HAHA, melted engine recalls are rare.

Those 3.6L T-stats leak, the plastic housing actually. They're really easy to swap out. If you have a coolant temp sensor issue, I'm wondering if the wiring got damaged from someone trying to cheat an oil pressure sensor in.

I'm the original owner and all the repair/recall work has been done at the dealer. The driver's side cylinder head was replaced March 2013 @ 20,000 miles. After the head replacement they only thing I noticed was that the coolant temperature needle gauge was a little to the left (colder) than it was before.

I'll check the wiring.

The engine block is aluminium, so it should melt a a lower temperature...

Unhappy P0128 two times this week...

Well, something changed. This week I got code P0128 two times.

Should I buy the thermostat at the dealer or at the local parts store?
